Where’s Mar?

My goodness! I have been MIA! The month of August was CRAZY BUSY for me and my sweet family.

The fasted re-cap ever…. ( in no special order)

Doss and Kim (brother and sister in laws) welcomed their TWIN baby girls into the world. Healthy and happy, both of the sweeties are at home with mom and dad. Sleepless nights here you guys come!

Bridal Season is basically here is AZ. I had 6 trails for hair and makeup with brides in August.. and I am so excited to work with all these lovely women. (Danielle, Kiley, Meaghan, Monique, Kia, and Shelley).

Had some fun Boudoir shoots with elan photographie…who then left me for the brownstones of Brooklyn. Karen, has been my bestie and partner in crime for the last 8 years. New York definitely won a gem with that move. Did I mention she had 5 going away parties.. one of which was featured on Junk in the Trunk blog.

Had a photo shoot with KT Jean designs. If you don’t know her work… KNOW IT! It was an honor to work on Katie on her fall collection shoot with Kym Ventola, of Ventola Photography.

Worked with EMMA MAGAZINE on their September Issue. Makeup and Hair on Page 10, with the DIY hair clip. Makeup and Hair starting on page 34 for the FASHION high & low spread.  Styled by, Shelly Sazdanoff. Photographed by Charity Mauer Photography.

Had family photos done by Charity! They turned out so fabulous. I was blessed by the lovely Arielle Roundeu of Chanel Cosmetics. I never get my makeup done, since I do makeup… It was so nice to have her pamper me!

Sophie, my 3.5 year old started back at pre-school and we started our homeschool co-op. She is now going 3 days to her preschool and we homeschool on mondays with the co-op. I am the overly involved mom at school, and chair every event. I LOVE It! The community and group of moms is so fun to be around.

Hank, my almost 1 year old, started WALKING! Where did my baby go?! Guess its time to start trying for our 3rd.  (wait, seriously?! yes.)

Was interviewed by Charity Mauer Photography… here.

My husband and I made a music video…. here. The banker, wrote the song after a blog we started following 40 days of dating. I suggest starting at day one and reading through to day 40. Good stuff.  Camera work and editing, the amazing Ryan Diggs.

My husband’s band Gospel Claws shot a music video for the Sons of Anarchy. It is on the FX website, and facebook page… here.

OKAY! Thats enough of the big stuff… Like I said, August was INSANE. I apologize for not staying up to date. I will most likely be sharing more on each topic in depth.. but here is the fast way to bring you up to speed.

You know you’re a mom when…

My family spent the day hanging out by the pool of a shamsy-fancy hotel, since the hubs is out of town, and its 114 outside. Yes, that is me complaining about Arizona’s heat, yet again. This CALI girl needs the water in here life, so why not hit up a fake beach at a hotel? Totally, the same, at least I can keep telling myself that.

My sister was sharing with me how she read this blog post about a “you know you’re 30 when…” and how she laughed real hard about it. After I got home from the pool, I was bathing Hanksters and he pooped in the tub. (insert emoticon of pile of poop+ bathtub + gun pointing at it).

Then I thought myself… you know you’re a mom when you pick up poop with your bare hands.

Which inspired this list:

You know you’re a mom when: you lick your hands, and hope its chocolate. *did that last week. It was chocolate.

You know you’re a mom when: you haven’t used the restroom alone in as long as you can remember. *the door is always open, and either I’m keeping an eye on the kids, or they won’t leave me alone.

You know you’re a mom when: you say 3 different names, to get the right one.

You know you’re a mom when: you sneak chocolate chips behind the fridge door, so that you don’t have to share with the kids. *I do this ALL THE TIME.

You know you’re a mom when: you are never seen in white clothing.

You know you’re a mom when: you haven’t had a hot meal in, well, as long as your kid has been on solids.

You know you’re a mom when: poop in the bath tub doesn’t make you scream.

You know you’re a mom when: you can recite all the characters from doc mc stuffins and are okay with it.

You know you’re a mom when: the clean up song becomes as cool to you as Justin B is to teen girls (and boys).

You know you’re a mom when: you get 4 hrs of uninterrupted sleep and your tell someone “I slept great last night.”

You know you’re a mom when: you drink wine out of a sippy cup, because that’s what is clean in the kitchen. * I may or may not be doing this right now.

You know you’re a mom when: you can get everyone out the door, dressed and ready to go for the day in under 5 minutes. But…You forget your wallet in the diaper bag the one day you decide to bring your purse. #fail

You know you’re a mom when you eat your kids gummy vitamins and think, “Good enough for them, good enough for me.”

Its hard work being a mom, but so rewarding. So, if you are not a mama, yet, don’t be scared by this list. Take it as an encouragement as to how awesome you are going to be, once you are a mom. Nothing seems to really shock me anymore. I just roll with the punches. We can basically conquer the world in a day, right Pinky?

fourth of July spent on Skateboards, having lots of fun!

This is my big brother. How fun are his socks?

Hank tried his hardest to skate, but cruising around the this hallway is what he did best.

my little brother looks so tough in the back ground of this photo. pretty cute watching him grow up!

Sophia did great on the skateboard. She was bombing hills by end… with the help of her uncles.

Sweet Sibling Love

Any day that Sophia has an activity to get to, I start to feel bad for Hank. It tends to always be during his nap time, or when he needs to be eating. Today Sophia’s yoga class was at 10:30 AM. Hank goes down for his nap at 9 AM. I went in and woke him up at 10:15, the very latest I could to get everyone out the door and be close to on time. “Close” being the keyword. Hank was mad, needless to say about being woken up. So we got in the car, the hot oven, as I like to call it during the summer. Hank still mad, if not even more mad now. Sophia was fine, she knew yoga was coming. Hank screamed for a solid 10 minutes. Which doesn’t seem long in miuntes, but in the heat, and 2 children and running late, it could of been a hour to me. Then he stopped. I looked back and saw this.

Moments like this make every scream, hot car ride, poopy diaper, breakdown tantrum, snotty nose completely worth it. All Sophia did was hold her hand out for him, and he grabbed her finger. Then he stopped crying. That sweet feeling of comfort he got from his sister. I am so blessed to have these gifts from God.

I will remember this moment for a very long time.

oh and we were only 2 minutes late for yoga. not bad.

Junk in the Trunk + West Elm (and maybe something free)

Junk in the Trunk + West Elm

There is a giveaway at the end… so read up!

I really love the gals over at Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market. They have some of the most unique vintage finds in the valley. The girls know how to bring community together through their blog and markets.

Because “J in the T” is so cool, I braved the 116 degree heat in PHX today. Both children in tow, and headed north.

Today, they set up inside the West Elm at Scottsdale Quarter to sell amazing found vintage goods! There was a line down the Quarter’s walk way. Within 20 minutes of opening, they had sold though a moving truck worth of greatness. Luckily, their strong husbands saved the day, by unloading a second trucks worth. I arrived around 10:45 AM and most of the amazing big pieces from the second load were SOLD!

I did bring home a super fun vintage “H” for Hank’s ( my 9 month old) room. I’ll show you it when I show you photos of the redone room. For now, here are a few iphone quality snap shots of what was going on today.

I could take these huge XO letters home, but I honestly can’t think of a place for them.

To win one of these fun water bottles and bag, follow blonde&banker blog and leave a comment below. Winner will be emailed by the 4th of July!

Make sure to follow Junk in the Trunk and West Elm Scottsdale Quarter on instagram.

Side note: my husband gets home in the morning from being out of town for 5 days. I can’t wait to see him… and put my feet up. Not to complain, but I am kind of complaining…2 kids under 3 for 5 days by yourself is hard work. Hence why my lunch today was fig bars and a beer.

XO, the blonde

Blogging: Blonde&Banker

I have been blogging on and off for around 3 years, through my business page, and guest blog spots. I feel like I have come to this point in my blogging journey where things that I want to blog about do not fit into my website. A couple years back, my sister, came up with this name Blonde and Banker. She wanted to be a banker and I was always the blonde. She now is a med student at the UofA. We thought one day in our old age we would open a store together. Well, turns out I ended up marrying a banker, and it was perfect. 2 weeks ago, I asked my lovely sister if I could use the name {blonde and banker} for my new blog that I wanted to launch. First of all, she couldn’t believe I remembered the name! Secondly, she said yes! I was so pumped.

Today marks my journey into consistent blogging about building a home. Not literally ground up, but the lovely in’s and out’s of home life. Posts about the beauty world, everything and anything I love/hate. And last some of the ways I budget (had to throw the banking in there somewhere).

Thanks Easy E, thats my nick name for my super sweet sis.
